Babies can join our day nursery from three months old and stay in our baby room until the age of around 2 years. Throughout their time at First Friends, children will transition through our lovely rooms at different stages depending on the their development, not necessarily on their age.
We have a lovely sleep room. Sleep is an important part of the nursery day for our babies and toddlers, so by working together with our parents, we ensure that each child’s needs are considered and met. We follow NHS and Lullaby Trust Guidance to implement safe sleep practices.
We also have lots of sensory space to stimulate young minds.
Come and visit us. You'll be sure to fall in love with our beautiful baby room.
Our day nursery offers vibrant, age-appropriate spaces that spark curiosity and support exploration for toddlers aged 2 to 3. With seamless access to both indoor and outdoor play areas, children enjoy the freedom to choose their environment, fostering independence and discovery.
Through a blend of structured routines and diverse activities—from arts and crafts to imaginative play—our experienced team creates engaging learning experiences that nurture developing skills and a love for learning. Rain or shine, we encourage outdoor play, where children can explore nature and enjoy physical activities that enhance their growth and development.
Our nursery pre-school room is designed exclusively for children aged 3-5 years, offering a stimulating environment that nurtures creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Our carefully curated activities and learning materials are geared towards preparing your little one for a seamless transition into school, ensuring they develop the essential skills needed for their lifetime.
We also offer term-time places in pre-school too!
We are incredibly fortunate to have a large, versatile space within our nursery that we lovingly call The Village Hub. This welcoming area serves as the heart of our nursery, bringing children of all ages together to share meals—whether it's breakfast, lunch, or snack time.
The Village Hub is more than just a dining space; it’s where we create moments of connection, growth and focus. From hosting special support sessions tailored to individual needs to energising movement and mindfulness activities.
We have lovely outdoor play facilities and a large garden. We believe there’s no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing! We have free play from inside to out.
Our garden is being fully renovated this Spring.
We love to get out and about in the community too. Our children enjoy access to the local village, including the local park and occasionally visit the church for Harvest Festival and Christmas festivities. We very much enjoy feeling part of the community and our neighbours love to stop to say hello.
In 2024, our day nursery has undergone an extensive renovation. Our biggest in our 15-year history.
The renovation involved every room in our nursery—from babies to toddlers to pre-schoolers—ensuring that no space was left untouched.
This exciting transformation included new custom carpentry, a full repainting of the entire nursery inside and out, brand-new learning resources, and a calming, aesthetically pleasing environment designed to create a beautiful and peaceful space for our children to learn and grow.
In addition to the indoor updates, our beloved garden is also being revamped to offer an even better outdoor experience, keeping in line with our focus on nature and free play.
