We have a dedicated team of qualified professionals who possess the expertise and compassion required to nurture and empower children with additional needs at First Friends Village Nursery.
Here's a closer look at her role and the services we provide:
Sam is our SEND lead and she works closely with our other SEND leads across our other three nurseries.
Sam offers overarching support to our individual SEND children at First Friends Village Nursery. Together, she collaborates with external agencies, facilitate funding applications, and oversee the implementation of Individual Education Plans and Education, Health, and Care Plans.
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities can impact various aspects of a child's development, including cognition and learning, communication and interaction and sensory and physical skills. Sam is trained to recognise and support children in these areas of development. Ensuring that every child receives equal learning and educational opportunities.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and provide tailored support for children under 5, including written progress checks, health assessments, and personalised transition booklets. Additionally, we make reasonable adjustments and offer specialised equipment to create an inclusive learning environment, such as peanut balls, weighted blankets, and sensory items.
Our SEND leads actively engage in regular meetings to discuss strategies for supporting children with special educational needs.
We've also established a 'special time' area in our day care nursery where children can receive targeted support or take a moment to self-regulate.
